The Brady cross country team is off to a great start this fall, with runners bringing home medals, setting new personal records, and continuing to improve with each meet.
The Eagles opened their season Aug. 27 at the Medicine Valley Invite. Paisley Connelly led the junior high girls with a fifth-place finish, while Remington Johnson placed ninth for the junior high boys and Gus Barnes took first.
At the high school level, Violet Gentry finished fifth and Zoe Johnson placed second. Several runners also showed improvement from previous trips to the Medicine Valley course, giving the Eagles a strong start to the season.
Brady returned to competition Sept. 3 at the Cozad Invite, where the Eagles continued to see success. Barnes earned another medal with a ninth-place finish, while Connelly moved up to third place and set a new personal record.
Adriana Gallegos had a big day as well, taking more than a minute off her previous best time to set a new PR. Remington Johnson completed his longest race distance to date, while Brooke Lydic gained valuable experience on the course.
The high school girls continued their strong start with Gentry placing fifth and Johnson taking the top spot in the girls’ race with a time of 20:56.
With two meets under their belts, the Eagles have already seen plenty of growth and accomplishments across both the junior high and high school teams. Congratulations to all of our runners on a great start to the season!
